What won the race: Overtaking early leader Cory Dumpert with a turn-three slide job on the ninth lap, third-starting Tyler Bruening of Decorah, Iowa, overcame a lap-28 restart to lead the rest of Saturday's 40-lap Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Series debut at Deer Creek Speedway. Bruening beat Dustin Sorensen by 2.136 seconds for the $3,000 payday, his first career Tri-State Series triumph and first win of any kind in more than a year.

Quotable: "It’s been an up-and-down year. I’ve been struggling with some things, personally, my neck and got sick over the weekend, just not 100 percent," Bruening said. "I’m out of breath, Dustin (Sorensen) made me work for it there. The car was really good, it maneuvered really well through lapped traffic."

Key notes: Bruening notched his first feature victory since Aug. 28, 2025 at Cresco (Iowa) Speedway, where the Tri-State Series concludes its Labor Day doubleheader weekend with Sunday's $3,000-to-win program. ...WoO regular Dustin Sorensen climbed from his fifth starting spot and followed Bruening by Cory Dumpert for the second on the ninth lap; Sorensen drew within 0.286 of a second of Bruening as they raced amid lapped traffic on lap 22, but never seriously challenged Bruening after the lap-28 restart. ... The pole-starting Dumpert, who entered having won two of the last three Tri-State Series events, slipped to fifth at the checkers. ... Nick Panitzke prevailed to finish third after a back-and-forth battle with Dylan Schmer following the lap-28 restart; Schmer settled for fourth. ... Veteran racer Jordan Yaggy improved 10 positions and rounded out the top 10. ... The race's lone caution came on the 28th lap when Kadden Kath and Brody Shaw, both making their first Late Model touring series starts, tangled as they battled for 17th, sending Dalton Magers hard into the turn-one wall as he attempted to avoid both spinning cars; Kath and Magers retired while Shaw continued to finish 16th. ... The 35-lap main event lasted 17 minutes with 21 starters completing the distance.
